I wanted to stay, chat, and hang out with all of the other talented writers in the contest, but I am not quite ready yet.<br /><br />ABNA: "Hey Kimbro, we want to talk to you now!"<br />KW: "Really! You guys are awesome! I mean it's about time, I almost..."<br />ABNA: "Your out of the contest!"<br />KW: "..."<br />ABNA: "Hey, did you hear us, we are talking to you!"<br />KW: "..."<br />ABNA: "Kimbro, you there?"<br />KW: "..."<br /><br />And that is about how it went from what I remember.<br /><br />Rejection is not always easy, but mark my words--rejection is essential for a writer to improve on themselves and of course, their writing. I wish I could have made it one step farther in the contest, but I did not. It happens, and we move on.<br /><br />I have read a few books that ought to help me with writing technique. A young good looking writer with serious grammer problems and a hired editor. I am told that I have to start self-promoting. I don't want to sound like some kind of important yahoo with a oh-so-fee-fee attitude!"<br />ABNA: "..."<br />KW: "Hello, ABNA?"<br />ABNA: "..."<br /><br />So anyhow that is pretty much how it all went down, I am sure of it. (At least the part about ABNA not saying anything!) I mean what should I say... "Hi, I would like to take this opportunity at introducing myself. That's right. I am Kimbro West... and, well... I am kind of a big deal around here."<br /><br />Ha! I would scoff at myself... I definatly cannot say that. Really I am just a normal everday guy sitting in a cubicle that dreams of ninjas battling in a arena of death! This is the first year of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards, and I do have to say after reading some of the entries, this will be a tough competition. This contest is not limited to new or unpublished authors, so the variety and overall talent has a rather large range.
